Learn to Celebrate Yourself

It would appear that I went on a blogging hiatus…again. Whoops! So I hope you wont mind that today’s post is a little more “chatty” than usual, but every now and again I just need to wind down…so grab a cup of coffee (or a glass of wine…depending on when you’re reading this) and let’s catch-up!
I have to admit, I’ve been super hard on myself lately. I’ve been self-critical about not only my body image, but also my overall worth as a woman. It would seem that as I fixate on what I believe to be my shortcomings, I always forget just how much I have to offer others. Finally last Monday I snapped out of my funk and decided that enough was enough! I realized that although I may not be the “insert adjective here“est woman out there, I am still pretty darn amazing.

“When no else celebrates you, you learn to celebrate yourself. If nobody compliments you, then compliment yourself. It’s not up to other people to keep you encouraged. It’s up to you. Encouragement should come from the inside.”

I completely changed my dietary and physical regimen and as a result I have felt better than ever. Do you want to know the best part? I’m doing this solely for ME and I’m so proud of everything I have accomplished in the past few weeks!! I have so much energy during the day and I would highly recommend working out in the morning for those of you who find yourself tired during the day. And you absolutely must try hot yoga if you never have before…I’m hooked! I can’t wait to share new fitness/clean eating tips on Lessons with A in the upcoming weeks!

Speaking of recent achievements…I have slowly, but surely begun to complete goals off of my 101 Things in 1001 Days list! Since January 6th I have: created 101 goals (#1), bought a new car (#3), updated my resume (#26), and watched more shows on Netflix than I care to admit (#82). I am in the process of: going to bed at 10pm every night for two weeks (#5), working out every other day for two months (#7), running a 5k with my stepmom or dad (#s 45/46), and traveling somewhere outside of the United States (#66). <—FINGERS CROSSED 🙂

Also, have I mentioned lately that I have the best puppy ever? There is no better feeling than walking into my apartment after a long day at work and being welcomed by my little man. He’s almost eight months old and the cutest thing in the entire world. Instagram followers, you’re welcome.

Oh! If you are not following me on Instagram (@apjacks), you must! Besides the occasional doses of puppy cuteness I also post pictures of recent purchases and happenings in my life (i.e. I am obsessed with the color white on my nails). For instance, did you know you can enter the code lessonswithaxoxo to get a free month of designer jewelry delivered right to your door? Go to and use the code to subscribe today!
WHEW! Hope that wasn’t too much to read! 🙂 Happy Thursday, loves!
