It’s hard to believe, but we are officially less than 6 months (almost 5) out from the big day! Today I wanted share where we are in the planning process and answer some questions I have received lately regarding the wedding.
Q: How did you decide on your registry?
A: Great question! Registering for gifts was a little difficult for Hunter and I as we have been living together for a year now and recently bought a new home. Of course there were a few items that we wanted, but we already have so much stuff between the two of us. I have been to quite a few cooking classes at Sur La Table and absolutely love the store! We decided that this would be a great time to get creative, but also a time to invest in timeless pieces. Some of my favorite items from our registry include this KitchenAid Mixer, a Pig Molcajete, these Petite Cocottes, and a set of Global Steak Knives. I feel like you can tell a lot about our personalities by looking at our registry (as crazy as that sounds)! Don’t be afraid to register for experiences, but still include “items” for those who prefer to purchase a tangible gift. My recommendation for creating your registry would be to have items listed at all price points and to have options that are both functional and fun!
Q: Are you using a wedding planner or doing it all on your own?
A: I would like to believe I could do it all on my own, but I think I would lose my mind without Shannon, the owner of Magnolia and Pine Events. We decided to hire Shannon as our wedding planner for the month of December! She is absolutely incredible and you can see a Styled Bridal Brunch she planned here.
Q: Are you doing any DIY projects for wedding decorations?
A: Absolutely! As soon as we got engaged I decided to splurge on a Cricut machine so that I could craft for the wedding. I am in the process of creating wedding favors for our guests and signage to place around the outside and inside of our venue. I take a lot of pride in creating pieces that I can keep and treasure forever versus spending money on items that I could temporarily rent. In addition to the wedding decorations I have also been crafting for my upcoming bachelorette in September!
Just like most brides, I find the majority of my inspiration from Pinterest. I obviously don’t want to give away too many surprises, but below you will find a few images that I believe capture our wedding vision. I would say my overall motto has been “less is more” because I really want the venue, food, and entertainment to shine.
I have been using The Knot to manage the budget, checklist, and website for our wedding. What I love so much about The Knot is that it will break down your budget into a recommended percentages for each major vendor. This has given me rigid guidelines to follow in terms of money and I have been able to stay comfortably within my budget. Below you can see a basic checklist of what I have accomplished and what I still need to complete.
Although it feels like we have so much left to do, the reality is we have already accomplished so much!! I hope y’all enjoyed this rather lengthy wedding planning update! Let me know if you have any further questions as I would love to share more insight about this exciting process! 🙂
